Upload is possibly Irista’s most important feature given that without images all the other features lose their value. We had evidence that our users were having some painful issues with it, both on mobile and on web, to the point where, for some, it was the main barrier to adoption.
Through different rounds of research, I narrowed down the areas of improvement:
■ Providing clear feedback about the status of the upload;
■ Managing users expectations about the expected upload time;
■ Displaying newly uploaded images as they’re ready instead of waiting for the whole upload to complete;
■ Handling the visualisation of the new images on the screen in a way that wouldn't feel disruptive for users.
I led the redesign of the overall upload experience on web and mobile, including the creation of production-ready assets and animations.
